Monday's Power of Learning Show with Jim Walters on KROC-AM focused on the strife that has occurred in Ferguson Missouri in the wake of last summer's fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager by a white police officer.

Jim, who visits the KROC studio every fourth Monday of the month for the Rochester Today show with Andy Brownell, discussed how the lack of critical thinking leads to polarized confrontations that can erupt in violence. He contends the break down in trust in our institutions is impeding the ability of people to resolve their disagreements in a civil manner that would encourage those on both sides to seek the truth. Too often, those involved in a conflict only seek out facts or evidence that supports their side, without exploring the possibility they could be mistaken.

Listen to the show through the above YouTube post and be sure to tune December 22nd for the next Power of Learning Show with Jim Walters on KROC-AM.
