Woman Admits Nearly Killing Owatonna Man In Knife Attack
Owatonna, MN (KROC AM News) - A Waseca woman who nearly killed her boyfriend has worked out a plea agreement that will keep her out of prison.
Police say the victim coded just after they arrived at the scene.
Court records show 35-year-old Tierrah Wells has pleaded guilty to a felony assault charge. An attempted murder charge is being dismissed. The conviction will become final when Wells is sentenced in March.
Wells was charged last year after the near-fatal stabbing that took place inside an Owatonna apartment on March 30th.
Officers arrived to find 42-year-old Charles Ellis had been stabbed in the chest twice with a kitchen knife. The victim stopped breathing while the officers were administering first aid but they were able to revive him.
The couple's two young children, ages four and five, were in the apartment when the stabbing occurred.
According to the plea agreement document, Wells is amenable to probation. The document says the prosecutor will not seek any more jail time and has agreed to a probationary period of no more than four years.
