Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department is investigating another incident along the city bike path.

Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says officers responded around 4 AM this morning to a residence in the 600 block of 10th Avenue Southeast after receiving a report of a "suspicious circumstance." The officers indicated they found a woman suffering from facial injuries.

Grayson says the woman told the officers that she was sleeping on a nearby bike path when a man struck her multiple times in the face and threatened her. The victim stated that she broke free and ran to the nearby home seeking help.

She described her assailant as a short black male, approximately 18-20 years old, wearing a blue sweatshirt and multicolored pants.

The Police Department is asking anyone with information about the suspect to call the non-emergency line at 507-328-6800.

Earlier this week, a woman called 911 after she was assaulted on a bike path in southwest Rochester near Apache Mall. She told police that a man grabbed her from behind and then simulated sexual acts before she managed to break free. Police say the victim in that case described her attacker as a thin black male, around 20 years old, who was wearing a Minnesota Twins beanie and red pants.

It was also reported by police that there were similarities between that incident and another report in April involving a woman who was inappropriately touched by a man while she was running near Soldiers Field Memorial Park.

The police statement on the latest incident also encourages people to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings when using bike paths and other recreational trails in the community. They are also urged to call 911 if the observed suspicious behavior.
