Faribault, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Twin Cities area motorist was hurt after striking a turkey on a southern Minnesota freeway.

The State Patrol responded to the vehicle-animal collision shortly before 7:00 Tuesday evening.

The driver was the only person involved in the crash. She was driving a BMW SUV. 

Lakeville Woman Injured After Striking Turkey on I-35 in Rice County

47-year-old Linzy Lee Eck collided with the bird about seven miles north of Faribault. She was traveling south, according to the state crash report. 

The State Patrol says the turkey went through the windshield of the vehicle. 

Eck was brought to a hospital in Burnsville. The State Patrol says she suffered non-life-threatening injuries. 

The Lakeville woman was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not involved in the crash, the state crash report says.
