Woman Rescued From River After 12-Hour Search Near Mankato
Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - There was a happy ending to a weekend search for a missing woman in the Mankato area.
Search Lasted More Than 12 Hours
The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office says a 50-year-old woman was located and rescued along the Le Sueur River more than 12 hours after she was reported missing Friday evening. A news release says the search was launched after the Sheriff's Office was alerted that she was missing just before 7 p.m. Friday.
Vehicle and Dogs Found Next To River
Responding deputies converged at the Le Sueur River Access, approximately four miles south of Mankato, and found her vehicle, personal belongings, and her dog on the riverbank. Drones, K-9 units, and a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter joined the search, which continued through the night.
People Out for Walk Heard Calls For Help
The news release states that she was finally located after people walking in the area reported hearing someone in the river calling for help around 7:15 a.m. Saturday. The missing woman was then located and rescued from the water.
Hospitalized in Stable Condition
The Sheriff's Office says she was transported by ambulance to the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato to be evaluated because of concerns about her having been exposed to the elements for a prolonged period. The statement says she was treated for minor injuries and exposure and, according to the latest report, was hospitalized in stable condition.
