Young Victim of Fatal Minnesota Head-on Crash With Semi ID’D
Morris, MN (KROC-AM News)- The State Patrol has released the identity of the young man who was killed in a head-on collision with a semi in western Minnesota early Friday morning.
The state crash report says the deadly crash occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. It happened on Hwy. 59 along the eastern outskirts of Morris.
The fatal crash victim has been identified as 22-year-old James Loren Gades of Starbuck, MN. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gades was driving a pick-up truck southbound on Hwy. 59 when his vehicle collided with a semi truck that was traveling in the opposite direction, the report says. It’s unknown which vehicle entered the opposite traffic lane on the two-lane highway.
The truck driver has been identified as 63-year-old Scott Leon Braam of Crystal, MN. He was taken from the crash scene to a nearby hospital for treatment of what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Both drivers were buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the deadly crash, according to the report. The road was described as wet at the time of the fatal collision.
Hwy. 59 through Morris was closed for about six hours during the crash investigation Friday morning.
