With both boys and girls basketball in full swing, there were some shakeups at the top of the rankings.

In boys basketball, Hayfield was ranked at the top of Class A, but after falling to Rushford-Peterson, they dropped down to #4 while Sleepy Eye St. Mary's is the new #1. Minneapolis North is now #1 in Class AA as Minnehaha Academy fell to 1-2, Totino-Grace remained at #1 in Class AAA, and Park Center is now #1 in Class AAAA with Wayzata falling to 2-2.

In girls basketball, the only movement at the top was in Class AA as Minnehaha Academy moved past Providence Academy.  Hopkins remained #1 in Class AAAA, Becker remained at the top in Class AAA and Mountain Iron-Bhul is still #1 in Class A.

Southeast Minnesota Teams That Made the Rankings

Southeast Minnesota teams really made their mark in the Class AA Girls Basketball Rankings. Goodhue, Lake City, Rochester Lourdes, and Dover-Eyota all were ranked in the Top 20. Hayfield is still the lone southeast Minnesota team ranked in Class A, but Kingsland is 7-1 on the season and looks like a really strong team. Their lone loss is to Hayfield.

Austin and Stewartville also cracked the Top 20 in Class AAA. It is still early in the season, but Section 1 is shaping up to have some fantastic tournament action this February and March in multiple classes.

In boys basketball, Rushford-Peterson was the big mover shooting all the way up to #3 in Class A after taking down previously top-ranked Hayfield. The Vikings fell to #4 while Spring Grove stayed at #15. Caledonia and Lake City remained ranked in Class AA, and Austin, Red Wing, and Stewartville were ranked in Class AAA.
