1st Degree Murder Indictment Against Mendota Heights Crime Spree Suspect
Mendota Heights (KROC-AM News) - The Dakota County Grand Jury has issued a first-degree murder indictment against a New Hope man in connection with a crime spree in July.
44-year-old Lucifer Nguyen is accused of killing a 48-year-old woman while trying to flee from police in Mendota Heights, where he was suspected of a home invasion. The indictment alleges Nguyen entered an office building where the victim worked and then shot 48-year-old Beverly Cory in the head before stealing the Maplewood woman’s car.
Nguyen spend several days eluding law enforcement in the Twin Cities before he was finally captured. He was previously charged with second degree murder in the case. A news release issued by the Dakota County notes Nguyen also faces felony assault, kidnapping, aggravated robbery and burglary charges stemming from the home invasion and another incident in Mendota Heights on the same day as the murder.
