Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - In an annual tradition that was started in the 1980s by the late Chuck Hazama, Rochester Mayor Kim Norton hosted a luncheon to honor the 2025 recipients of the Mayor's Medal of Honor.

This is the 42nd year of the recognition event. It honors numerous local citizens for their significant contributions to the Rochester area community in a wide range of categories, including heroism, education, community service, artistic and cultural achievement, human services, industry, and youth services.

A total of 15 people were presented with the Mayor's Medal of honor this year. The annual Mayor's Award went to John and Karen Edmonds for their work supporting marginalized youth and young adults.

The other recipients of the Mayor's Medal of Honor this year are:

  • Viri Anguiano - Artistic / Cultural Achievement Award
  • Dr. Irene Sia - Champion of Diversity Award
  • David Oeth - Community-Wide Service Award
  • Chancellor Lori J. Carrell - Educational Excellence Award
  • Jennifer Kellogg - Excellence in City Service Award
  • Becky Montpetit - Excellence in Industry Award
  • Jesse Campbell - Heroism Award
  • Beth Kangas - Human Services Award
  • Andre Crockett Sr. - Legacy Award
  • Shelly Rohe - Personal Achievement Award
  • Jim Decker - Senior/Elder Achievement Award
  • Amanda Holloway - Sustainability Award
  • Norah Chonis - Youth Serving Community Award
