Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A street that serves as a connection between downtown Rochester and Hwy. 52 is closed this week.

Motorists have turned to using 6th St. SW to reach the downtown since the closure of 2nd St. SW last year. 

The closure of 2nd St. SW, between 4th and 6th Avenues, remains ongoing as work continues on Mayo Clinic's $5 billion expansion in downtown Rochester.

6th St. SW Closed Between 8th and 9th SW This Week

A one-block of closure of 6th St. SW began on Monday. The street is closed between 8th and 9th Avenues SW.

The sidewalk on the north side of the street is also closed. 

The City of Rochester says the closure is to accommodate a storm water project. 

The detour route is 10th Ave. SW to 4 St. SW to 6 Ave. SW. Officials indicate the project is scheduled to be finished by Monday, May 4.
