
Rochester First Responders Holding Memorial Service & Stair Climb to Recognize 25th Anniversary of 9/11
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester first responders are set to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.

Members of the Rochester Fire and Police Departments and the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office are inviting the public to a memorial ceremony Friday morning.

Memorial Service and Stair Climb Planned in Downtown Rochester for 25th Anniversary of September 11 Terrorist Attacks
A ceremony recognizing the 25th anniversary of September 11 begins at 7:30 Friday morning. It will take place at the Broadway Plaza Hotel, located at 15 1st St. SE in downtown Rochester.
A news release issued by the Rochester Fire Department says the service will “honor the thousands of innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and pay tribute to the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the first responders and emergency personnel who answered the call that day, including the 343 firefighters and numerous law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
The program will also include a joint Honor Guard presentation, remarks from local public safety leaders and traditional ceremonial tributes including the ringing of the memorial bell, bagpipes, moments of silence, and the reading of names.
Stair Climb
After the service, public safety personnel will begin a memorial stair climb at Broadway Plaza in remembrance of the lives lost and in honor of the first responders who climbed the towers on September 11, 2001.
