Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A woman and her young daughter were hurt as the result of a freak accident in NE Rochester.

They were hit by a tire that broke loose from a vehicle that was a couple of hundred feet away on a busy road.

The incident happened around 11:30 AM Saturday.

An older SUV was driving west through the 37th St/N. Broadway intersection when a tire came off and literally rolled down 37th St., went through the median and into the parking lot of Rochester Auto Care.

The business is located on the south side of 37th St and was holding a grand opening event at the time.

Rochester Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says the 27-year-old Plainview woman and her 3-year-old daughter were near a bounce house when the tire hit them. Both suffered abrasions and were treated at the scene but later went to the hospital to be checked out.

The SUV was driven by 57-year-old Douglas Lee of Rochester.
