Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Absentee voting for the August 11 Primary Election gets underway Friday in Olmsted County.

Along with narrowing down the field for U.S. Senator, Governor and House Representative, Rochester voters will also decide which candidates move onto November’s General Election for Mayor and City Council. 

Absentee voters can submit their ballots by mail or in person during the 46-day voting window. Ballots can be requested through the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office

46-Day Window for August 11 Primary Absentee Voting Starts Friday in Olmsted County

Voters submitting their ballots through the mail must have a witness who is either a U.S. Citizen who is 18 or older, a notary public or a person authorized to administer oaths, according to the Olmsted County Elections Office . 

Anyone completing an absentee ballot application will also have the option to become a permanent absentee voter who will automatically receive absentee ballots for future elections. 

Ballots received via mail can be sent to the returned by mail or delivered in person to the Olmsted County Elections Office at 2122 Campus Dr. SE, Suite 300, Rochester, Minnesota 55904. 

Ballots must be received in person by 5 p.m. or through the mail by 8 p.m. on Election Day to count, officials say. 

In person early voting will begin next month at the Olmsted County Elections Office and one week before the election at Rochester City Hall.
