Hutchinson, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Stewartville man who is now serving an 18-year prison sentence for child sexual abuse has admitted to a similar crime in central Minnesota but he will not have to spend any additional time behind bars.

45-year-old Daniel Kenney entered a guilty plea to a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge in McLeod County on Tuesday and was sentenced today to 168 months in prison. The sentencing order allows Kenney to serve the new prison term concurrently with the 18-year prison sentence he received last month after he entered guilty pleas to two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in Olmsted County Court.

His latest conviction stems from the sexual abuse suffered by an eight-year-old girl while Kenney was babysitting her at a residence in Hutchinson in December 2022. The crime occurred after he moved away from Stewartville, where he had been accused of sexually abusing at least three children beginning in 2018.

Once he completes his prison terms, Kenney will be under supervised release for the rest of his life.
