Kentucky still perfect...Dean Smith tribute

UNDATED (AP) — Top-ranked Kentucky remains unbeaten after surpassing 100 points in an SEC game for the first time in five years.

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 19 points and had 10 rebounds as the Wildcats clobbered Auburn 110-75 to improve to 27-0. Aaron Harrison had 18 points for Kentucky, which shot 65 percent and had six players score in double figures.

Coach Roy Williams and his 15th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels paid tribute to the late Dean Smith by running Smith's "Four Corners" offense on their first possession.

With Williams holding up four fingers, Brice Johnson hit a layup to start the Heels on their way to an 89-60 rout of Georgia Tech. It was North Carolina's first home game since Smith died two weeks ago.

Smith was known for using the Four Corners to spread the floor and work the clock, which ultimately helped lead to the implementation of a shot clock in college basketball.

Kennedy Meeks scored 18 points for the Tar Heels, who shot 62 percent and won for only the second time in their last six games.

Elsewhere in top-25 men's basketball:

— Third-ranked Gonzaga pulled out a 70-60 victory at Saint Mary's after trailing by 17 points. Kyle Wiltjer had 16 points and 12 rebounds as the Bulldogs claimed the West Coast Conference championship and posted their school-record 21st straight victory.

— Fourth-ranked Duke ripped Clemson 78-56 as Quinn Cook matched a career high with 27 points. Justise Winslow had 20 points for the Blue Devils, who played while freshman Jahlil Okafor (jah-LIHL' OH'-kah-fohr) sat out with a sprained left ankle.

— Fifth-ranked Wisconsin got 21 points out of Frank Kaminsky and Bronson Koenig (KAY'-nihg) added a career-high 17 in a 63-53 win over Minnesota. The Badgers are 25-2 overall and 13-1 in the Big Ten following their 10th straight win.

— Darrun Hilliard scored 17 points and Ryan Arcidiacono (ahr-see-dee-ah-KOH'-noh) added 16 as No. 6 Villanova beat Marquette 87-76. The Wildcats claimed their eighth straight win and improved to 25-2.

— Gabe York scored 13 points and seventh-ranked Arizona blew a 14-point halftime lead before downing UCLA 57-47. Dusan Ristic added 12 points and T.J. McConnell scored six of his 11 in the final 74 seconds.

— Eighth-ranked Kansas still tops the Big 12 standings after Perry Ellis scored 23 points and Devonte' Graham added a career-high 20 in the Jayhawks' 81-72 triumph against TCU. The Jayhawks remain one game ahead of Iowa State following their 22nd straight win at Allen Fieldhouse.

— Bonzie Colson came off the bench to score 16 points and grab six rebounds in just 15 minutes to send 10th-ranked 10 Notre Dame to an 87-70 victory over Boston College. Demetrius Jackson added 15 points and Jerian Grant chipped in 10 points and 11 assists while the pair helped the Irish shoot 66 percent.

— No. 11 Northern Iowa silenced Bradley 56-39 to improve to 26-2. Nate Buss and Wes Washpun each scored 11 points off the bench as the Panthers improved to 15-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

— Montrezl Harrell had 21 points, 14 rebounds and key free throws in the final minute to give No. 12 Louisville a 55-53 win over Miami. Chad Jones contributed 14 of his 17 points during the second half in his return from a one-game suspension.

— No. 17 Iowa State topped Texas 85-77 behind 17 points apiece from George Niang and Matt Thomas. The Cyclones withstood Kendal Yancy's career-highs of six 3-pointers and 29 points.

— Isaiah Cousins scored 22 points and Frank Booker added a career-high 17 in sending No. 17 Oklahoma past Texas Tech 79-75 in overtime. Buddy Hield (hyld) hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Cousins provided a field goal and two free throws to help the Sooners seal the win.

— Rashad Madden scored 16 points and Michael Qualls added 14 to help No. 18 Arkansas escape with a 65-61 win at Mississippi State. The Razorbacks wrapped up their sixth consecutive win by holding the Bulldogs scoreless for more than six minutes late in the game.

— No. 19 Butler was upset 73-56 by Xavier as Myles Davis furnished 18 points. The Musketeers have four victories against ranked teams this season.

—Taurean Prince scored 14 points and Rico Gathers had 13 and 10 rebounds to fuel No. 20 Baylor's 69-42 romp over Kansas State.

— Juwan Staten scored 22 points and had seven assists and Gary Browne added a career-high 18 points in No. 23 West Virginia's 73-63 win over No. 22 Oklahoma State. Browne also had eight rebounds and scored 16 of his points in the second half.

— No. 25 VCU, got 24 points from Treveon Graham in a 78-72 win over Massachusetts.

NBA-SCHEDULE

Pelicans beat Heat, lose Davis

UNDATED (AP) — The New Orleans Pelicans ended their four-game losing streak, but the victory was costly. Anthony Davis suffered another shoulder injury in the first quarter and missed the remainder of the Pelicans' 105-91 triumph at Miami. Davis hobbled off the court while grabbing the shoulder even before play could be stopped. He missed two games earlier this month, plus the All-Star Game because of the shoulder issue.

Eric Gordon scored 16 of his 24 points in the third quarter as the Pelicans moved a game over .500.

Goran Dragic (DRAH'-gihch) finished with 12 points in his Heat debut.

In other NBA finals:

— The Los Angeles Clippers had three players score over 20 points in a 126-99 pounding of Sacramento. Austin Rivers had a career-high 28 points, J.J. Redick scored 24 and Jamal Crawford finished with 23 in the Clippers' fourth consecutive win.

— Oklahoma City had three players with double doubles while Kevin Durant sat out the Thunder's 110-103 win at Charlotte. Russell Westbrook had 33 points and 10 assists, Serge Ibaka (ih-BAH'-kah) had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Enes Kanter had 10 points and 13 rebounds in his first game with the Thunder.

— Corey Brewer poured in a season-high 26 points and James Harden scored 16 of his 20 points in Houston's big third quarter as the Rockets ripped Toronto 98-76. The Rockets led by 4 with less than four minutes left in the third before Harden scored seven points in a 12-1 run.

— Pau Gasol (pow gah-SAHL') had 22 points and 14 rebounds in Chicago's 112-107 verdict over Phoenix. Jimmy Butler contributed 19 points to the Bull's fifth victory in six games.

NBA-HEAT

Bosh out for the season

MIAMI (AP) — Miami Heat All-Star forward Chris Bosh will miss at least the remainder of the season because of blood clots on one of his lungs. The team said he is receiving care guided by Heat physicians at a South Florida hospital and resting comfortably.

Bosh sought treatment on Thursday after not feeling well for several days. He averaged 21.1 points and 7 rebounds this season, his first in a five-year, $118 million contract with the Heat.

NBA-WOLVES-MUHAMMAD

Wolves forward done for season

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Two people with knowledge of the situation tell The Associated Press that Minnesota Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad needs season-ending surgery on the middle finger on his right hand.

Muhammad was becoming a key player in his second season, averaging 13.5 points per game after only 3.9 as a rookie.

Predators lose second straight...Habs regain East lead...Isles fall in OT

UNDATED (AP) — The NHL's Central Division and Western Conference races could be a little tighter by the end of the night following the Nashville Predators' second straight loss.

The Predators picked up a point, but Wayne Simmonds scored once in regulation and again in the shootout to send Philadelphia past Nashville 3-2. Ryan White also tallied to help the Flyers beat the top team in the West.

The Predators currently lead the conference by four points over Anaheim and head the Central Division by five points over St. Louis.

The Ducks inched closer to the conference lead as Ryan Getzlaf (GETS'-laf) scored with 7:13 left in Anaheim's 2-1 victory against Edmonton. Francois Beauchemin (BOH'-sheh-mihn) also scored, Kyle Palmeiru had two assists and John Gibson made 26 saves in the Ducks' second straight win since a 1-4-1 slide.

The Blues couldn't make up ground on Nashville. Blake Comeau (KOH'-moh) scored twice and had an assist in Pittsburgh's 4-2 triumph at St. Louis. Thomas Greiss stopped 21 shots as the Penguins moved within five points of the Metropolitan Division lead.

Also on NHL ice:

— Max Pacioretty (pash-uh-RET'-ee) scored twice and Carey Price turned back 31 shots in Montreal's 3-1 victory over Columbus. The Canadiens climbed back atop the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of the New York Islanders.

— Tampa Bay remains one point behind the Atlantic Division-leading Canadiens after Ondrej Palat (AHN'-dray pah-LAHT') scored twice and Anton Stralman had three assists in the Lightning's 4-2 win at Arizona. Ryan Callahan added a goal and an assist in the Lightning's third win in four games.

— Evgeny Kuznetsov (kooz-NET'-sahv) provided the lone shootout goal and Braden Holtby stopped 30 shots in Washington's fourth straight win, 3-2 over the New York Islanders. Ryan Strome (strohm) scored the tying goal in the final minute for the Isles, who lead the Metropolitan Division by four points over the Capitals and New York Rangers.

— Detroit stayed five points behind Montreal as Niklas Kronwall scored 36 into overtime to complete the Red Wings' 7-6 comeback win at Dallas. Jakob Kindl and Pavel Datsyuk (DAHT'-sook) each scored twice for the Red Wings, who trailed 6-4 with 7 ½ minutes remaining in regulation.

— Los Angeles won the Stadium Series game at Santa Clara by downing San Jose 2-1 on Marion Gaborik's (GAB'-uh-rihks) goal just over four minutes into the third period. Jonathan Quick stopped 30 shots as the Kings picked up their seventh straight victory and moved into a tie with the Sharks for the final Western Conference playoff berth.

— Toronto beat Winnipeg 4-3 on James van Riemsdyk's (REEMZ'-dyks) goal at 3:47 of overtime. Nazem Kadri (NAH'-zehm KAH'-dree) and Daniel Winnik each had a goal and an assist as the Maple Leafs won for just the second time in their last 18 games.

— Ottawa's Kyle Turris had a goal and two assists as Ottawa thumped Florida 4-1. The outcome prevented the Panthers from moving ahead of Boston in the battle for the final East playoff berth.

— The Devils beat Carolina 3-1 as defenseman Andy Greene capped New Jersey's three-goal first period with his first tally in 71 games.

MLB-NATIONALS

New deal for Williams

UNDATED (AP) — A couple of major league skippers had their contracts extended on Saturday.

The Washington Nationals have picked up the 2016 option Matt Williams, who guided the team to the NL East title as a rookie manager last season. Williams was named NL Manager of the Year after winning a league-best 96 games.

The Boston Red Sox have extended manager John Farrell's contract through the 2017 season, with a team option for 2018. Farrell guided the Bosox to the 2013 World Series title before the club landed in the cellar for the second time in three years.

Also in the majors:

— Baltimore has beaten outfielder Alejandro de Aza in salary arbitration. De Aza was awarded the Orioles' $5 million offer rather than his $5.65 million request after hitting .252 with eight homers and 41 RBIs last year.

— The Seattle Mariners have defeated pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen in baseball's final salary arbitration decision this year, leaving owners 8-6 against players. Wilhelmsen was awarded the team's $1.4 million offer rather than his $2.2 million request following a 3-2 record and a 2.27 ERA in 57 games for the Mariners last season.

No Busches in Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A final appeals officer has upheld NASCAR's suspension of Kurt Busch.

The decision means both Busch brothers are out of the "Great American Race" for the first time since 2000. Younger brother Kyle was ruled out with a broken right leg and broken left foot sustained in a harrowing crash Saturday in the Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway.

Kurt Busch was suspended indefinitely Friday after a Delaware judge said the 2004 champion almost surely choked and beat his former girlfriend, Driscoll, last fall at Dover International Speedway.

PGA-NORTHERN TRUST OPEN

Goosen is the leader

LOS ANGELES (AP) —Retief (reh-TEEF') Goosen will start the final round of the PGA's Northern Trust Open in first place. He was 2-under for the day and completed play at 8-under. Graham DeLaet (deh-LEHT') is next at minus-6.

Teenager Ko tied for the lead

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — World No. 1 Lydia Ko is tied for the lead at the Women's Australian Open with one round remaining. The 17-year-old New Zealander stands 7-under after 54 holes of play.
