NBA PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE

Bulls and Warriors go 2-up in playoffs

UNDATED (AP) — The Chicago Bulls will take a 2-0 series lead to Milwaukee for Game 3 Thursday night of their first round series after the Bulls beat the Bucks 91-82. Jimmy Butler poured in a career playoff high 31 points. Backcourt mate Derrick Rose scored all 15 of his points in the second half.

Pau Gasol added 11 points and 16 rebounds and Mike Dunleavy Jr. scored 12 points as the third-seeded Bulls grabbed a commanding lead in the series.

In last night's other NBA series:

__ Golden State has a 2-0 lead in the playoffs for the first time since 1989. The Warriors pulled away late to beat stubborn New Orleans 97-87. Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 26. Fellow guard Steph Curry added 22 points and six assists. The Warriors rallied from an early 13-point deficit.

Phenom drives in 3 runs for Cubs...Tigers drop Sabathia to 0-3

UNDATED (AP) — Chicago Cubs rookie Kris Bryant is starting to live up to his hype in the Windy City. Bryant turned his tiebreaking two-run double into a Little League homer with some heads-up base-running, and the star rookie had three hits and three RBIs in the Cubs' 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Bryant's double off the base of the left-center field fence in the seventh inning snapped a 1-all tie. He scored on the play when advanced to third base on the throw home, and he raced across the plate when catcher Francisco Cervelli missed the throw for an error.

The much-heralded rookie is batting .429 with four RBIs in four games since his much-anticipated call-up from Triple-A Iowa last Friday.

In other baseball:

— J.D. Martinez and Yoenis Cespedes hit consecutive RBI singles in the seventh inning, and ex-Yankee Joba Chamberlain got Jacoby Ellsbury to hit into a crucial double play in the eighth in the Detroit Tigers' 2-1 victory over the New York Yankees. CC Sabathia fell to 0-3 for the Yanks.

__The Kansas City Royals scored a pair of runs on wild pitches before pounding the bumbling Minnesota Twins, 7-1. Edinson Volquez dodged trouble for seven innings to improve to 2-1.

__ Melky Cabrera capped Chicago's four-run ninth inning with an RBI single off Cody Allen in the White Sox' 4-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

— Matt Kemp had three hits and four RBIs and the San Diego Padres scored nine runs in the first two innings of a 14-3 rout of the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

__ Cincinnati topped the Milwaukee Brewers 6-1. Anthony Desclafani improved to 2-0 with eight shutout innings. Zach Cozart and Joey Votto homered.

__ Oakland doubled up the L.A. Angels 6-3. Stephen Vogt hit a go-ahead three-run homer. Marcus Semien also went deep for the Athletics. Tyler Clippard earned his first American League save and 35th of his career.

__ Houston rallied with two runs in the eighth inning to beat the Seattle Mariners 7-5. Luis Valbueno hit a leadoff homer in the eighth to break the tie.

— Boston parlayed three Baltimore errors into five unearned runs in a rain-shortened 7-1 Patriots Day win over the Orioles. The game was called after 6 1/2 innings. Boston scored four runs in the third when losing pitcher Wei-Yin Chen walked four and made an error, and third baseman Manny Machado committed another error.

Red-hot Mets lose two

NEW YORK (AP) — The NL East-leading Mets have lost two players to injury. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud will be out more than three weeks, and left-handed reliever Jerry Blevins will miss more than six weeks after both were injured against Miami Sunday. The team says that d'Arnaud will be in a splint for three weeks after his right hand was broken when he was hit by a pitch while Blevins will be in a splint for six weeks after a line drive fractured his throwing arm.

Rangers and Wild take 2-1 leads...Ducks on verge

UNDATED (AP)— Henrik Lundqvist stopped 23 shots and the New York Rangers regained control against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a 2-1 win in Game 3 of that first-round series.

Carl Hagelin and Chris Kreider scored for New York, which dominated for two periods then held on late to take a 2-1 series lead.

Game 4 is Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

In other playoff hockey:

— Devan Dubnyk made 17 saves and Jason Pominville and Zach Parise scored second-period goals and the Minnesota Wild earned a 3-0 victory over the St. Louis Blues in Game 3 of their Western Conference series. That gives the Wild a 2-1 series lead heading into Game 4 Wednesday in St. Paul.

__ The Anaheim Ducks have moved to the verge of advancing into the second round of the NHL playoffs. The Ducks took a commanding 3-0 lead over Winnipeg by outlasting the Jets 5-4 in overtime on Rikard Rakell's game-winning goal 5:14 into OT.

San Jose cans coach

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Coach Todd McLellan has parted ways with the San Jose Sharks after seven seasons. The two sides agreed to the move after the Sharks missed the playoffs and finished 12th out of 14 teams in the Western Conference. McLellan goes out as the franchise's winningest coach with a 311-163-66 regular-season record. That was third best in the league since he took over before the 2008-09 season.

Caps lose Fehr

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) —Washington center Eric Fehr will miss at least the next two playoff games against the New York Islanders because of an upper body injury. He was hurt in Washington's 2-1 overtime loss on Sunday.

The Capitals trail the series 2-1 entering Game 4 in New York tonight.

AP source: Peterson stays home from Vikes workouts

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A person with knowledge of Adrian Peterson's offseason workouts tells The Associated Press that the star running back has decided not to attend Minnesota's spring strength and conditioning program.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation. This was the first day Vikings players gathered at team headquarters for supervised workouts.

Peterson's absence was expected, of course, given his expressed disinterest in returning to the Vikings organization. Even in a normal year, Peterson's presence during offseason workouts has been rare.

Tebow finds a team

PHILADELPHIA — Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow has signed a one-year contract with the Eagles. Tebow, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2012 with the New York Jets, was released by the New England Patriots before the 2013 season and spent last year working in television as an analyst for the Southeastern Conference Network and ESPN.

The 27-year-old becomes part of a busy depth chart as the Eagles already have quarterbacks Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley and G.J. Kinne on the roster.

Ethiopian's Desisa and Kenyan woman win in Boston

BOSTON (AP) — Ethiopia's Lelisa Desisa and Kenya's Caroline Rotich won the men's and women's divisions of the Boston Marathon. Desisa won the 119th version of the annual race in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, 17 seconds for his second victory in the race. He finished first in 2013, just hours before a pair of bombs exploded at the finish line.

Rotich won the women's race in an unofficial 2:24:55. It's the first Boston victory for the 30-year-old.

Ex-Bears linebacker found dead at 70

CHICAGO (AP) — Former Chicago Bears linebacker Doug Buffone, whose reputation for being a passionate football player carried over into his career as a sports broadcaster, was found dead Monday in his home, according to police.

Buffone played 14 seasons for the Bears. Buffone retired after the 1979 season with 24 career interceptions, the most for any Bears linebacker. He once held the team's record for most games played with 186.

Former Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher called Buffone's death "a sad day for Bears nation."

Five-time Niners Pro Bowler dies at 84

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Hall of Fame offensive tackle Bob St. Clair, a five-time Pro Bowler who played all 11 of his seasons with his hometown San Francisco 49ers, has died. He was 84.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame and the 49ers announced St. Clair had died Monday. A 6-foot-9 right tackle known for his speed and uncanny blocking ability in the passing and running games, St. Clair was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990.
