Officials say nearly 1.2 million Minnesotans applied for a frontline worker bonus check that will be equally cut from a pool of $500 million. State officials had earlier estimated nearly 700,000 workers would likely qualify for the covid pandemic-related program.

The state legislature approved $500-million to fund the program for frontline employees who worked at least 120 hours between March 15, 2020 and June 30 last year. Final notification and payments are expected to occur this fall.
