Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - It is Carpool Week In Rochester and those who commute to work alone in downtown Rochester are invited to save some money and share the ride to work this week.

Arrive Rochester has invited individuals and access a ride-matching tool and browse potential carpool partners. Once registered, users can connect with other commuters and arrange to share a ride. Each carpool trip is then logged during the week and is entered for a chance to win one of three prizes, including a $50 coffee card, $100 Cameo Restaurant gift card and a $200 gas card.

Participants who share a ride to work can reduce the number of cars on the road and experience less stress by avoiding battling traffic on their own.

“Carpooling is one of the easiest ways to switch up your trip to work and immediately cut your commute costs in half. Carpool Week is a chance to give it a try, see if it works for you and win some great prizes in the process,” said Adam Arnold, program manager of Arrive Rochester.  “The Arrive Rochester team is excited to help Rochester commuters find ride matches and celebrate the benefits of carpooling during Carpool Week.”

“The Rochester community is growing and our transportation options continue to expand as well,” said Nick Lemmer from the City of Rochester. “Carpool Week is a great opportunity for people to experience the many benefits that result from sharing the ride, such as saving money on gas, reducing wear and tear on their car, and getting to know their coworkers better.”

Carpool Week is led by Arrive Rochester, a program of the City of Rochester and Destination Medical Centre (DMC). The program is part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan as well as the DMC Transportation Plan that aims to shift downtown commuters to more sustainable travel modes, such as carpooling, transit, walking, and cycling.
