Ashes in Trash May Have Started Byron Fire
Byron, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Byron Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire early this morning.
Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Scott Behrns says the call came in from the Russell Schoessler residence at 946 Byron Avenue North about 4:45 AM. He and his girlfriend, along with a dog, were able to get safely out of the residence.
Captain Behrns says the homeowner indicated he had disposed of some ashes in an outside waste container and that may have been the source of the fire. Preliminary reports indicate most of the fire damage was confined to the attached garage and its contents, but an estimate of the loss is not yet available.
