Bail Set a $5 Million For Rochester Murder Suspect
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester man accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend and her two-year-old daughter was arraigned in Olmsted County Court this morning.
Bail for 26-year-old Renard Carter was set at $5 million after he was formally charged with three counts of second-degree murder for the strangulation deaths of 23-year-old Keona Foote and her unborn child along with 2-year-old Miyona Miller. The charges were filed the day after the victims' bodies were found in their residence at the Olympik Village apartment complex in northeast Rochester on September 13th.
Carter was captured that night in Columbia South Carolina after he traveled to that city allegedly to kill a former girlfriend. He was shot and wounded by Columbia police officers after they located him at an apartment and he refused to drop a gun, which ended up being a BB gun. He spent several days in a hospital before he was transferred to a South Carolina jail. Carter was transported to Rochester yesterday and was booked into the Olmsted County Jail late last night.
His next court appearance has been scheduled on October 13th.
