Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Fire Department responded early Sunday a house fire in northeast Rochester. Captain Brian Peterson says it was reported just after 3 am in the base of the home at 603 20th Street Northeast in the city’s Northern Heights neighborhood.

The responding firefighters found the occupants outside of the house with their two dogs and a fire burning in a basement bedroom. It was extinguished before the flames spread outside the room, but there was some moderate smoke damage throughout the basement.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation. A preliminary estimate put the damage at around $25,000.
