Rochester Man Charged for Shooting Girl in the Face With a BB Gun at Rochester Park
18-year-old Jayden Eric Scott is charged with felony threats, gross misdemeanor carrying a BB gun in public and misdemeanor assault. The alleged shooting happened shortly before 10:30 Saturday night near Silver Lake Park in Rochester.
Officers spoke with the juvenile victim at the hospital who said she was with friends at the park when Scott arrived in a vehicle.
She told police that she went to confront him about shooting BB’s at her home a few days prior to the Silver Lake Park BB gun shooting, the complaint says.
The charges say Scott told the girl to back away from the vehicle or he would shoot her.
He then counted down from five and shot the girl in the face multiple times with the BB gun as she was about five feet from the vehicle, the complaint says.
Two BBs were lodged in the girl’s face and she needed medical professionals to remove them, the complaint says.
Police arrested Scott at his home. He told officers he felt threatened by the group of people at the park and said he shot in the victim’s direction, the charges say.
Scott made his first appearance in Olmsted County Court Tuesday morning. He was released without bail and his next court date has not yet been set.
