BCA Investigating Death of Man Found in Minnesota Lake Last Year
Robbinsdale, MN (KROC-AM News)- The BCA announced an investigation Tuesday into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 24-year-old man in the Twin Cities.

A statement from the state agency says its Force Investigations Unit will conduct an independent investigation involving the death of 24-year-old Khalil Azad. The independent investigation was requested by the Robbinsdale Police Department.
A Statement from the Robbinsdale Police Department says officers tried to make a DWI traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Azad during the early morning hours of July 3. Police say the vehicle crashed as it was trying to evade police and that Azad fled the vehicle on foot following the crash. He was never located by authorities that night.
Two days later a citizen found Azad’s body in Crystal Lake. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in September ruled his death an accidental drowning.
The BCA says investigators will keep the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office apprised of the investigation and will present the findings of the inquiry to the office without recommendations. The Robbinsdale Police Department also released officer body camera footage of the incident, which is available here.
