That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court earlier this week. The alleged assault occurred in the early morning hours of August 24.
The court document says a Rochester police officer on patrol saw the victim lying on the ground, bleeding and unconscious.
Bouncer Accused of Assaulting Man Outside of Downtown Rochester Bar
36-year-old Colten Andrew Thomas Overton of Stewartville is charged with felony third-degree assault. A witness told the officer that Overton knocked the victim out after punching him in the face.

The officer was then shown a cell phone video depicting Overton standing over the victim while he was struggling on his back. Overton is then seen punching the victim in the head five times, the complaint alleges.
The video did not show the beginning of the altercation and Overton claimed the victim punched him in the lip first although Overton did not have a visible injury, the complaint says.
Police then reviewed surveillance camera footage. The footage showed the victim approaching Overton at the front door of the establishment while Overton was checking identifications at a metal detector stationed at the front door.
The victim briefly leaves the front door then returns and appears to shout at Overton leading to the two having what the complaint describes as an “angry verbal exchange,” before the victim leaves a second time.
Overton is then seen leaving his post and following the victim. A different camera with what the court document describes as an “obscure view” shows Overton following the victim on the sidewalk.
The victim then turns to face Overton and Overton responds by grabbing the victim by the collar and taking him to the ground, the complaint says.
The bar is located on South Broadway Ave. in downtown Rochester, however the complaint does not name the business.
Overton is being charged by summons. He’s due to make his first court appearance next month.
