Owatonna, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Byron man lost his life in a motorcycle crash on a southeast Minnesota highway over the weekend.

The State Patrol responded to the fatal crash shortly before 5:30 Sunday afternoon. The motorcyclist was the only person involved in the deadly crash.

83-Year-Old Byron Man Killed in Hwy. 14 Motorcycle Crash East of Owatonna

The fatality occurred on Hwy. 14 just east of Owatonna. A westbound motorcycle left the four-lane highway near Steele County Rd. 43, according to the state crash report.

83-year-old Richard Dean Bedney was identified as the motorcycle operator. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the State Patrol. 

Bedney was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not involved in the deadly crash, the state crash report says. Hwy. 14 was wet at the time of the deadly crash. 

Mayo Clinic Ambulance, the Steele County Sheriff’s Office, Owatonna Police Department and Owatonna Fire Department also responded to the fatal motorcycle crash.
