Owatonna Man Hurt in Crash with Coach Bus Transporting 31 People on I-35

Faribault, MN (KROC-AM News)- One person was injured in a collision involving a car and coach bus on Interstate 35 in southern Minnesota Saturday.

The State Patrol responded to the crash shortly after 5:15 p.m. The driver was the lone occupant of the car. 

31 passengers were riding on the coach bus at the time of the crash.

Car Driver Injured in Collision with Coach Bus on I-35 in Faribault

Both vehicles were traveling south on the freeway when they collided about two miles north of the Hwy. 60 interchange in Faribault, the state crash report says. 

42-year-old Abdullahi Ali Abdi of Owatonna was driving the car. 

The State Patrol says he suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was brought to a hospital in Faribault for further care. 

No Injuries for Bus Driver and Passengers

46-year-old William Fredrick Walton of Davenport, IA was identified as the coach bus driver. He escaped the crash without injuries, according to the State Patrol. 

Both drivers were buckled up and not under the influence of alcohol, according to the state crash report. 

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Faribault Fire Department, Faribault Police Department and North Ambulance also responded to the collision.
