MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Police say 12 people were taken to a hospital after a car hit a pedal pub in downtown Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police spokesman Scott Seroka says the pedal pub — a roving bar on wheels — was traveling on a bridge Wednesday night when it was struck from behind by a car. He says the pedal pub tipped over and trapped some of the riders, and that passersby helped free them.

Seroka says three of the riders had "significant injuries." Hennepin County Medical Center spokeswoman Christine Hill tells the Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1KeeOE3 ) that the injuries aren't life-threatening.

Pedal pubs are slow-moving party vehicles that are steered by an official driver while riders pedal.

The driver of the car was arrested on probable cause of criminal vehicular injury. He was the only person in the car.
