2 Minnesota HS Track Athletes Hit by Car – 1 Critically Injured
Forest Lake, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol has released the names of the two student athletes who were struck by a car yesterday while training with other members of the Forest Lake Area High School track team.
A news release on the incident says the teenagers were crossing Highway 61 in the crosswalk at an intersection in Forest Lake around 3:30 PM when they were hit by a car traveling south on Highway 61. The driver of the car was previously identified as 84-year-old Robert Creager of Lindstrom.
The incident occurred about 1.3 miles from the high school.
Both of the injured runners were airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The State Patrol says 15-year-old Samuel Farinella suffered life-threatening injuries, while 15-year-old Jase Blanchard had injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
The elderly driver of the car was not hurt.
