Driving by the gas station right now is just depressing. Everything else is already so expensive and now gas prices are disgustingly high, too.

So as were all pinching pennies and trying to save money where we can, I decided to put together a list of where we can find some of the cheapest gas in Rochester, MN.

Keep in mind, driving across town to get cheaper gas might end up costing you more money just to drive there and back. The juice isn't always worth the squeeze! If there's a 5 cent different but you'd have to drive 15 minutes, it's probably not worth it.

Some of the Cheapest Gas in Rochester, MN

A quick disclaimer: This is based on gas prices reported on GasBuddy as I'm writing this article. As we all know, gas prices change all the time, so the prices I refer to here are the prices at the time of writing this.

Also, I'm going to attempt to keep this list to places that are offering the cheapest gas at the moment AND I know, from driving around town, typically have some of the cheaper gas prices in general.

Costco
At Costco, you need a membership card in order to pump gas, but if you have one, Costco is typically one of the cheapest spots to get gas in town. As of writing this, reports on GasBuddy say gas is $3.99/gal.

Fleet Farm
I used to live in southern Rochester and would typically notice that Fleet Farm has cheaper gas than other places in town. As of writing this, reports on GasBuddy say gas is $3.89/gal.

Sinclair
The Sinclair in downtown Rochester is almost always cheaper than other gas stations in the area. I drive by it every day on my way to and from work. As of writing this, reports on GasBuddy say gas is $3.99/gal.

Other gas stations that, according to GasBuddy reports, currently have gas under $4/gal. are Marathon at 1125 4th St. SE, Thronodson Oil, and Fast and Fresh. However, those reports are from yesterday (4/28) so they many no longer be accurate.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
