
Suspected Gunman in Fatal Rochester Shooting Captured, Victim Identified
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department says the suspect in Thursday's fatal shooting has been captured.

Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson said the victim was shot outside of an apartment building.
Police later announced the gunshot victim had died.

On Friday, police announced the arrest of the suspect. The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office also identified the victim.
34-Year-Old Suspect in Fatal Rochester Shooting Identified
Officers responded to the gunfire around 5:15 p.m. at the Essex Park Apartments, located in the 900 block of 41st St. NW.
Police identified the shooting suspect as 34-year-old Derrell Williams of Rochester. He was taken into custody without incident around 10:00 Friday morning, Grayson said.
Williams is expected to face homicide-related charges. His mugshot is not yet available.
Victim Identified
The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim of the fatal shooting as Carlton Gardner.
He was 31 years old.
Grayson said the preliminary investigation indicated the fatal shooting was not random. Police say the homicide investigation remains open.
