Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The National Weather Service today confirmed a tornado was responsible for the downed trees and other damage that occurred inside Chesterwoods Park near Rochester on July 19th.

A survey team estimates the EF-1 twister had maximum winds around 90 miles per hour and was on the ground at two locations in the park for a total of about three quarters of a mile. The tornado was about 25 yards wide when it struck around 5 p.m. It was likely linked to possible tornado sightings in the Eyota area the same evening.

The line of severe storms that spawned the twister also produced a tornado that caused damage between Preston and Wykoff in Fillmore County, and two tornadoes in northeast Iowa, including the storm that devastated an area of downtown McGregor, Iowa.
