Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Classes will resume tomorrow in the Rochester School District after an unexpected break due to a presumed cyber attack.

The school district says students will return to class at their regular times in all schools and programs on Tuesday. Over the weekend, it was announced that classes were canceled Monday and that district staff would meet to work on plans for operating classes without “access to major technology systems” and to give the technology staff additional time to investigate and address what was originally termed "irregular activity" on the school district's technology network.

The news release announcing the resumption of classes indicates that third-party experts have determined that an "outside actor" gained access to some school district data. At this point, the school district does not have any evidence that the affected data has been used for financial fraud or identity theft.

Still, it is advised that anyone associated with the school district be vigilant in reviewing financial account statements and credit reports for "fraudulent or irregular activity." The statement also says the school district will contact individuals whose data was accessed as soon as they are able.
