Numerous school districts are opening late this morning due to the conditions. The Rochester district is opening two hours late.

There were hundreds of minor fender-benders, spinouts and vehicles driving off the road yesterday in the storm zone but no serious accidents were reported. Wind gusts of over 50 miles per hour were reported in many areas during the storm, creating whiteout conditions. A gust of 48 miles per hour was recorded at the Rochester airport.  Just over 2 inches of snow fell at the airport.

And it’s still cold. Rochester has recorded its 6th straight morning with subzero temperatures and another is expected tomorrow. It has also been below freezing for 14 straight days.

Although it won’t be getting above freezing anytime soon, somewhat warmer weather is headed this way.Temps are expected to remain below normal into next week but there could be a warmup by Thursday.
