Consecutive Prison Sentences for Robbing Homeowners at Gunpoint
Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - One of the men convicted of charges stemming from a violent home invasion near Cannon Falls last year has been ordered to prison.
A Goodhue County Judge on Friday sentenced 33-year-old Aldray Young to 54 months in prison for each of his convictions for first-degree aggravated robbery. The judge also ordered the Inver Grove Heights man to serve the sentences consecutively, which gives him a sentence totaling nine years in prison. He was also sentenced to four years in prison for a burglary conviction in the same case but is being allowed to serve that term concurrently with the two other prison sentences.
Young and another Twin Cities man recently pleaded guilty to the charges for barging into a rural Cannon Falls home in May 2018 and robbing the married couple living in the house at gunpoint before leaving them bound in the basement. Court documents indicate investigators were given a big break in the case when it was discovered the two men used a vehicle equipped with a DWI interlock device that photographed them in the car outside the victims' home at the time of the crime.
The second man convicted in the case, 30-year-old Terrell Schaeffer of St. Paul, is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
