Convicted Felon Charged After Large Rochester Drug Bust
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A search warrant has led to a significant drug bust in Rochester last week.
That’s according to a criminal complaint filed Monday in Olmsted County Court. Rochester Police executed the warrant shortly before 12:30 p.m. on September 29.
The residence listed in the warrant is in the 500 block of 5th Ave. Southeast.
Upon searching the apartment, officers found a large quantity of suspected psilocybin mushrooms that weighed 987.4 grams with packaging and multiple digital scales, according to the complaint.
The charges say the majority of the more than two pounds of mushrooms were found in a bedroom belonging to 29-year-old Eli Alan Callaway of Rochester. The charges indicate the large amount of mushrooms and digital scales found in the residence are indicative of drug sale activity.
Callaway was charged Monday with one count of felony first-degree drug sales and a felony count of first-degree drug possession.
Court records indicate Callaway was convicted of felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct in Olmsted County in 2015. Last month he was convicted of a felony for violating an order of protection associated with the 2015 criminal sexual conduct conviction.
The drug bust occurred while Callaway was serving a stayed five-year prison sentence, court records say.
