Responding firefighters, who were told a fire alarm and sprinklers on the third and fourth floors had been activated, found an evacuation was underway upon their arrival, the news release says.

No smoke or fire was visible from the outside of the building. Crews then entered a unit on the third floor and found a slight haze and smelled the odor of burnt food.
Officials say the cooking fire had been put out by the apartment’s sprinkler system before firefighters arrived. Firefighters then ventilated the apartment and removed water from the building.
No injuries were reported. The impacted apartment suffered moderate water damage, the news release says.
The American Red Cross also responded to the scene to assist the Rochester Fire Department.
