Lake City, MN (KROC-AM News)- A two-vehicle crash in Wabasha County claimed the life of a Millville man and sent a teenager to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The State Patrol responded to the crash along Hwy. 63 in Mount Pleasant Township, which is southwest of Lake City. The deadly crash was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. and shut down a stretch of Hwy. 63 for nearly four hours. 

The state crash report says a northbound and SUV and southbound car collided on the two-lane highway. The car driver, identified as 26-year-old Spencer Davis Sommerfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 16-year-old boy was driving the SUV and is now in St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. His condition has not yet been disclosed. His name and hometown haven’t been released. 

The crash report says Sommerfield was not buckled at the time of the deadly crash and it's unknown if alcohol was involved. The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, Lake City Police Department, Lake City Fire Department and Lake City Ambulance also responded to the fatal collision.
