Delta Airlines just began service again on the longest international flight available from here in Minnesota.

A sure sign that things are getting back to normal... finally... after the pandemic is how much travel is happening again. And, how the airlines are staffing back up to meet all that pent-up demand.

The news hasn't been all positive, though. Earlier this year, we heard how one airline was ENDING one of its more popular flights out of Minnesota starting this winter.

Of course, also earlier this year, we'd heard how one of Minnesota's own Sun Country Airlines was adding a new flight from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) which is its shortest available. (And likely one of the cheapest, too, as fares start around $10!)

But now comes news that Delta Airlines, which, of course, has a major hub at MSP has started service again on the LONGEST international flight leaving from the Land of 10,000 Lakes: Service from the Twin Cities to Seoul, Korea.

According to a release from Metropolitan Airports Commission that operates MSP, the new flight started on October 5th:

Delta Air Lines resumed its nonstop service between Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Seoul-Incheon International Airport (ICN) last week, the first of two Asia routes to return since they were paused at the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic.

The release went on to note that Delta’s nonstop service to Seoul marks the 25th international flight out of 30 to return to MSP. The ICN flight is the longest international route from MSP, clocking in at more than 6,200 miles and a flight duration of more than 12 hours!

Delta said that flight to ICN is being offered three times a week now through October 29th, when it will be offered daily. And, it also noted that Delta has worked to restore its other nonstop international flight services this year, having restored its route to London back in April.

Of course, here in southeast Minnesota, we're lucky in that Rochester International Airport offers direct service to several cities, including Minneapolis. However, if you'd rather hop in the car and hit the road, keep scrolling to check out the Must-Drive Road in every state this fall.
