There's good news if you're looking to head to someplace warm this winter because Delta Air Lines just expanded its offering to several new tropical destinations that will leave from Minnesota starting later this year.

Seeing as the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is Delta Air Line's second-largest hub outside of its headquarters in Atlanta, it's not a surprise that  Minnesota's biggest airline is continuing to expand its offerings from the North Star State.

It was just last week that Delta announced it was extending its direct flights from MSP to Dublin, Ireland into 2025. And that news was just a few days after Delta said it was adding direct flights from MSP to Rome, Italy in 2025 as well.

And now, according to the travel site, Caribbean Journal, Delta Air Lines is set to expand service from a snow-covered MSP to the warm weather destinations of Grand Cayman, Aruba and St. Maarten, as well as adding additional flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico all beginning this December.

Caribbean Journal notes that Delta will offer service from MSP to St. Maarten with flights twice weekly on Thursday and Saturday. Delta's added service from MSP to Aruba will offer flights every Friday and Sunday. And, Delta is set to add two additional flights a week from MSP to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Delta's Joe Esposito, Senior Vice President - Network Planning explained the additions in a release earlier this year:

As the leading carrier from MSP to Latin America and the Caribbean, we're looking forward to increasing our seats to these popular destinations, offering unmatched convenience and expanded choices for our customers. With the addition of Aruba, St. Maarten and recently added Mazatlán, customers have three brand-new sunny destinations to look forward to this winter.

Caribbean Journal checked into prices for these flights to these new warm-weather destinations and found that a basic MSP to St Maarten fare starts as low as $892 for round trip in late December, according to a sample booking on Delta. For Aruba flights, prices start at $980 round trip in the main cabin.

MSP was named the Best Airport in the Country again earlier this year, and is currently the 19th busiest airport in North America and served nearly 35 million passengers in 2023. It's also the main hub for Minnesota-based Sun Country Airlines. That's a lot of passengers making their way to our fair state, right?
