Update: Multiple Shots Fired in Northeast Rochester Neighborhood
Police Captain Casey Moilanen said an officer on patrol near Bowlocity reported hearing gunshots around 8:15 p.m. Dispatchers also reported receiving multiple shots fired calls from the same area around the same time.
The gunfire was reported to have occurred in the 2800 block of Northern Valley Dr. Northeast. Moilanen said no gunshot victims were at the scene and no local hospitals reported receiving a gunshot victim as of Friday morning.
Investigators spent the night processing the scene. So far they found an apartment building and two vehicles were hit by the gunfire.
Moilanen says the number of shots fired as of Friday morning is unknown. He said witnesses reported hearing between 8 and 30 gunshots.
Investigators are conducting follow-up interviews and gathering evidence at the scene. Moilanen said it appears the shooting was not random and that one of the vehicles struck by the gunfire is not registered to an address in the area of the shooting.
Police are working to determine if the suspected shooter or shooters fired the bullets from a vehicle or on foot. So far no arrests have been made.
Limited information is available, however a police department spokesperson said dispatchers received multiple reports from people saying they heard shots being fired. The shots fired calls began around 8:15 p.m.
The gunshots were reported in the 2800 block of Northern Valley Dr. in Northeast Rochester. Neighbors in the area reported seeing a large police presence.
Police say preliminary information indicates no injuries were reported. Officers remained at the scene of the reported shooting past 10:30 p.m.
