Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The gusty winds raking across southeastern Minnesota this afternoon are being blamed for a power outage in southeast Rochester.

Rochester Public Utilities says a tree has fallen onto overhead power lines and that has resulted in an outage affecting nearly 2000 customers. It appears most of the affected homes and businesses are in an area along Marion Road Southeast.

A statement from RPU says crews will need to reattach the powerlines and make repairs to the equipment damaged by the falling tree before power can be restored. The outage was reported around 1 PM.
