Driver Killed, Vehicle Strikes Clinic in Northfield Crash
Northfield, MN (KROC-AM News)- An elderly man was killed in a crash in which one of the vehicles involved struck a clinic in Northfield.
A news release issued Friday by the Northfield Police Department says officers responded to a two-vehicle crash shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The crash happened near the Allina Clinic at the intersection of Jefferson Parkway and Hwy. 3 Service Rd.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates a sedan, driven by 18-year-old Aiden Mandsagar of Dundas, MN, was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the frontage road and struck an SUV on Jefferson Parkway that was being operated by 85-year-old Bryce Skaar of Northfield. Police say both vehicles rolled over following the collision and that one of the vehicles struck the clinic.
Allina health staff immediately began rendering aid. First responders then arrived and the two drivers were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for further care.
Police say Skar died from his injuries at the Minneapolis hospital. Officials say crash investigation is ongoing and that a cause has not yet been determined.
The condition of the 18-year-old driver has not been released. Northfield EMS, Northfield Areas Fire and Rescue Service assisted police at the scene of the deadly crash.
