Rochester PD: Fleeing Teen Arrested With Loaded Gun, Illegal Drugs
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A traffic stop led to the arrest of a teenager after Rochester police officers reportedly found a loaded gun and illegal drugs in the vehicle.
A Rochester Police Spokesman said an officer initiated a traffic stop in the area of 55th St. and Bandel Rd. in northwest Rochester around 3:40 p.m. Thursday. The officer reported the vehicle stopped in a business parking lot, then accelerated, striking a sign as it fled north on Bandel Rd.
The suspect vehicle then stopped in the 5700 block of Bandel Rd. Police say the driver, described as a 16-year-old boy, is known to law enforcement and initiated a vehicle search based on the alleged fleeing attempt and a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
The search of the vehicle revealed a loaded glock handgun, 46 suspected marijuana vape cartridges, 304 grams of marijuana and a digital scale, according to police. The boy was arrested following the search.
