Early Voting Underway in Minnesota

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Early voting began Friday in Minnesota for the November 5 General Election.

Olmsted County election officials say voters have several options for submitting a ballot prior to election day. Absentee voting by mail is available and absentee ballots can be requested from the Minnesota Secretary of State Office. Voters choosing the option will need a witness who was either a registered Minnesota voter or a notary. Completed absentee ballots can be returned by mail or dropped off at the Olmsted County Elections Office at the County Campus in southeast Rochester.

A second option is to vote using an absentee ballot in person. The County Elections Office will be open on weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM until the day before the election for that purpose. The office will also be open on Saturdays, October 26 and November 2, along with Sunday, November 3 from 9 AM to 3 PM for absentee voting in person. The office will also be open until 7 PM on Tuesday, October 29.

Direct early voting will be available beginning on October 18. That involves voters submitting their ballots directly into a tabulator or using absentee envelopes at the County Elections Office. Direct in person voting will also be offered at Rochester City Hall from October 29 through November 4 on weekdays from 8 to 5 PM, along with Saturday and Sunday, November 2 and 3, from 9 AM to 3 PM.
