Elderly Rochester Couple Fall Victim To Computer “Security Scam”
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - An elderly Rochester couple is out of more than $20,000 in a reported computer scam.
The couple - an 85-year-old woman and her 79-year-old husband - contacted police last weekend to report the crime.
They said they received a security message on their computer Saturday that directed them to contact a "Microsoft service representative."

They had a number of conversations with so-called Microsoft security employees and were told to buy gift cards and Bitcoin and pass on the digital ID numbers. By the time they realized they had been had, they were out $22,500.
