Family of Four, Deputy Hospitalized After Minnesota House Fire Rescue
Waconia, MN (KROC-AM News)- Four people from Waconia and a Carver County Sheriff’s Deputy were hospitalized after a house fire rescue early Wednesday morning.
A news release from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the report of a house fire shortly after midnight. Upon arrival the deputies reported finding what was described as a fully-involved fire.
Deputies rescued the home’s four residents through a second-floor window. Rescued from the home was a 31-year-old woman, 32-year-old man, one-year-old boy and three year-old girl. All four of the home’s occupants were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
A GoFundMe for the family identifies the adults as Dru and Chrissy DeLang. The fundraising page says the family of four is being treated for smoke inhalation and that three of them suffered a broken vertebrae in their backs. The page also says they “have experienced an unimaginable loss of their home and two cherished dogs, Loki and Clover.”
A deputy involved in the rescue was treated for minor injuries then released from a hospital in Waconia. Members of several fire agencies put out the flames.
The cause of the fire is unknown. The Carver County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office and Waconia Fire Department are investigating the cause.
