(UPDATED) - The vehicle fire causing traffic delays on Highway 52 in Rochester involved a school bus.

A statement issued by the Rochester School District says the First Student bus was headed to pick up students at the end of the school day when it caught fire shortly after 2 p.m. The driver and an  Education Support Professional were safely evacuated from the bus without injury. No students were on the bus at the time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.


Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A vehicle fire is being blamed for a significant traffic disruption on Highway 52 in Rochester this afternoon.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reporting that a vehicle fire at the 19th Street Northwest interchange has limited northbound traffic to a single lane, with the two right lanes closed to make room for the emergency response. The State Patrol has not released any information about the incident.

MnDOT is indicating that motorists should expect delays while traveling north on Highway 52 in that area until approximately 4 p.m.
