Wabasha, MN (KROC-AM News)- A crash on a scenic southeast Minnesota highway resulted in critical injuries for a teen woman.

That’s according to the State Patrol which says a man was also injured in the crash. The two-vehicle collision occurred shortly before 8:45 Tuesday morning.

19-Year-Old Woman Suffers Critical Injuries in SUV-Car Collision on Hwy. 61, Wabasha Man Also Hurt

A car traveling south on Hwy. 61 and pickup heading north on Hwy. 61 collided just northwest of Wabasha, the state crash report says. 

19-year-old Ellaina Renea Johnson of Big Lake was identified as the driver of the car. She suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, according to the State Patrol. 

41-year-old Neil Patrick Rude of Wabasha was driving the pickup. The State Patrol says he was brought to a hospital in Wabasha with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Seat Belts Worn, Alcohol Not Suspected

Both motorists were buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the crash, according to the state crash report.

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, Wabasha Police Department and Wabasha Fire and Ambulance also responded to the two-vehicle collision.
