
15-Year-Old Boy Becomes 9th Death Reported on Minnesota’s Roads In Under a Week
Coon Rapids, MN (MinnesotaNow)- A teenage boy is the ninth person to die on Minnesota's roads since Friday.

That’s according to a news release issued by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, which says the teen lost his life in a dirt bike crash Sunday afternoon.
The spike in traffic fatalities began Friday morning in Albert Lea and continued into Monday night on Interstate 35.

Some of the fatal crash victims include an 11-year-old bicyclist, a couple from Apple Valley struck by a wrong-way driver accused of being drunk and a road surveyor from Minneapolis.

The latest fatal crash reported in Minnesota occurred in Coon Rapids. Authorities say the teen boy was traveling northwest on a dirt bike on a sidewalk in the 3300 block Northdale Blvd. Northwest.
The teen swerved onto the road at its intersection with Marigold St. Northwest. He was then struck by a pick-up truck traveling southeast, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officials identified the dirt bike operator as 15-year-old Isaiah Lewis Whitlock. The Ramsey teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities describe the driver of the pick-up truck as a 53-year-old man from Oak Grove, MN. He was not hurt and his name has not been released.
The deadly collision occurred around 4:40 Sunday afternoon and is under investigation by the State Patrol, Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, Coon Rapids Police Department, and Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
