Baxter, MN (MinnesotaNow)- A Minnesota motorcyclist lost his life in a crash in the Brainerd Lakes area.

The State Patrol says a pickup truck was also involved in the fatal collision. First responders were dispatched to the scene shortly before 4:50 Thursday morning.

53-Year-Old Baxter Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at Hwy. 371 Intersection

The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 371 and Pine Beach Rd. in Baxter. 

The motorcycle was making a left turn from northbound Hwy. 371 and the pickup was traveling south on the four-lane highway when the two collided in the intersection, according to the state crash report.

A 53-year-old man from Baxter was driving the motorcycle. The State Patrol is planning to release his name and additional details regarding his death on Friday morning. 

Pickup Driver Avoids Injuries

56-year-old Todd Daniel Grimsley of Baxter was identified as the driver of the pickup. The State Patrol said he was not hurt.

Grimsley was buckled up and did not have alcohol in his system, the state crash report says.
